p52
Last year, I attempted Project 365 as my personal photography project for the year. P365 is one image a day for a year. I think I made it to week 3 or so and then… life got in the way. This year, I thought about attempting Project 52 which is very similar to P365 but instead of one image a day for a year, P52 is one image a week for a year.
And here is is… January 7th. The first week almost gone already and I was still without an image.
However, I did not feel discouraged. I tend to work best under pressure you see. My ultimate goal for P52 this year is to stretch myself; creatively, professionally, personally. Each week I want the image to take me outside of my comfort zone in one way or another. This could be a self portrait without make-up, a complicated lighting situation, intense Photoshop manipulation, whatever I fancy that week. I’m sure some weeks will be a bust and my P52 for that week will just be another ridiculously cute image of my boys, but… I’m OK with that.
The first image of P52:2013 is below.
The challenge? I was stuck at home on a dreary, gray day. The kids were eating lunch and daylight is slipping away. I gave myself 15 minutes and 10 frames to come up with something I could be proud of. So, I threw a black sheet over the backs of some dining room chairs right next to our sliding glass door, jammed my mkii on a tripod, grabbed a 16×20 piece of white foam core, and pulled my scarf up.
See you around next week!
