Capturing “Slept Like a Baby”
I’ve decided I need some new images for our bedroom… I’ve also decided that I want something soft, peaceful, and lovely to look at. What to choose? What to CHOOSE? I need some inspiration! Then I came upon this post from Jinky Art and…
Lightbulb!
I want pictures of my boys in sweet slumber on the walls of my bedroom. AND, because I’m feeling a little adventurous, and a little tweaked on Starbucks, I’m going to show you how I did it.
The scene: their bedroom. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to get what I wanted with Quinny in his crib. So, I placed two white sheets on the ground and a play-yard on top of them creating a slumber pen. I added a few pillows with white pillowcases and a white blanky for snuggles. Thankfully, the boys’ room has two windows and get relatively decent natural light.
The unwilling, and very tired, participant dressed in a white onesie. I almost gave up at this point but I still had a few tricks up my sleeve to accomplish my goal:
A VERY warm room and a nice bottle o’bribery -I mean… MILK!
After a little baba and some snuggle I gave him about 25 minutes alone and he was OUT. I crept back into the room, adjusted my camera and hopped in the pen. Then I started pulling back the blanket and doing some little adjustments… and then…
I ended up with these:
Perfect.
I’ll be doing the same thing tomorrow with the big boy. Let’s hope his slumber pen session is just as succesful!
Hopefully this inspires you to get out the camera, put in a little work and have a forever memory of an everyday moment of your child. Or pick up the phone and call me to capture the moment for you. 🙂
