Art District
Havana walkabout spoils
The last night we were in Cuba was spent in Havana and the one evening we stayed up late. After several hours spent experimenting with night photography and classic cars, we attempted to head back to our hotel, or casa renta. Well, the person I was with had about as good a sense of direction as I, and about as much Spanish, and we ended up going up and down every street in one part of town in the dark looking for our digs.
When I say every street… that isn’t an exaggeration and I’m pretty sure we saw some of those streets more than once. However, we also came upon a diamond in the rough which we dubbed the Art District. Sure, it’s like half a block long in only one direction but it was one of my favorite places in the whole trip. Even after staying up late the night before, we were still up before sunrise to revisit this place the next morning in the soft sunrise light before our flight out.
